Refund Policy

Effective October 14, 2026 (updated October 15, 2026: switch plan)

We want this to be simple and fair. To ask for a refund or a redo, email office@nycbenchmarkfiling.com with your order number.

Free redo

If the City rejects a report we submitted because of our mistake, we fix and resubmit it at no charge.

If the City rejects it because information we were given was wrong or missing (for example, a utility bill or floor area), we will tell you exactly what is needed and what any extra work would cost before doing it.

Refunds

• Before we start work: full refund.
• If we cannot do the job (for example, the building is not one we can file for, or we find it does not need a filing): full refund.
• After we start work but before we submit to the City: refund of half the fee.
• After we submit the report: no refund, but the free redo above still applies.

Annual plan

• Cancel anytime; canceling stops all future yearly charges.
• This includes the switch plan ($249/year for buildings that filed last year): it is the same annual plan with the same refund rules.
• If you cancel before we start work on that year's report, we refund that year's charge in full. After we start, the rules above apply to that year's report.
• Forgot to cancel before a renewal? Email us within 30 days of the charge and, if we have not started that year's report, we refund it in full.

Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Your bank usually shows them within 5 to 10 business days.

What is not covered

The City makes its own decisions. We do not refund our fee because of a City decision about penalties, or because violations issued before or during our work are not removed. City penalties and fees are paid to the City and are not refunded by us.
